Hershey's Fur Center was founded in 1929 in the rural countryside of Pennsylvania by
Quincy Baird Hershey, Sr. Mr. Hershey began the business with only five dollars that he
had borrowed from a local fur dealer. The business continued to grow and prosper over the
years. Hershey's traded in deer, cattle hides, as well as furs for many of those years. In
addition, they produced a line of custom hand-made deerskin gloves and garments for the
fashion industry. Mr.
Hershey taught and guided his son Quincy Baird Hershey, Jr. in the working knowledge of
the leather and fur business from a very young age. During his high school years, Baird
worked along side his father developing a special knowledge for the business. Baird saw
many new and exciting possibilities for the future. With strict adherence to his father's
principles of integrity, enthusiasm, and a strong work ethic, Baird assumed full
responsibility for the business in 1971.
With the addition of Jim Aiello, as
director of purchasing in 1975 and Frank Myers, as director of sales and marketing in
1977, both of which were originally high school friends of Baird's, a broader vision of
growth for the business was initiated and continues through today. The commitment of
Baird, Jim and Frank propelled the company to new heights and in 1989 Hershey's
International Incorporated was formed. Today, Hershey's deals exclusively in the trade and
export of the highest quality American Deerskin Leather and Ginseng Products.
The company prides itself on its
well established reputation of trust and confidence developed over the years with the many
Hershey's customers serviced throughout the world. With the expansion into the
international market place Hershey's processes in excess of 2.5 million square feet of
Deerskin Leather and up to 30,000 pounds of Ginseng annually. Hershey's has established
itself as a proven leader in the American Deerskin Leather and Ginseng overseas
markets.
